The
Baradla-Domica Cave System is located within the Gömör-Torna Karst Region,
beneath and either side of the International Boundary of Hungary and Slovakia.
This
Web-page will be dedicated to the presentation of the Hungarian section
of this large and complex cave system - the Baradla Cave -
situated in the heart of the Aggtelek National Park in Northern Hungary.
There
will be complimentary and separate Webpage for the Slovak section
of the same cave system - the Domica Cave - located within
the Silická Karst Plateau in the Slovak Karst Protected Landscape Region
of the Slovak Karst in South-east Slovakia. This karst plateau is the natural
northward continuation of the Hungarian Aggtelek Karst Mountains into Slovakia.
When
eventually e-published, this Web Page should not be considered as
the definitive Home Page for the subject - for it is not. We seek to present
certain aspects of this wonderful cave system from our own unique perspective.
The initial version of this Web Page is not due to come on-line until 2005
and the first stage is not planned to be completed until the end of 2006.
This interim page gives due notice of our intentions in respect of the
subject.
In
the meantime, there are sufficient alternative Slovak Web Sites to visit,
should you require further information about this cave system or the karst
regions in which it is located.
The
official Web Site address for the SPRÁVA SLOVENSÝCH JASKÝŇ
(Office of Slovak Caves), based in Liptovský Mikuláš, can be found at
:-
http://www.ssj.sk
This is
well worth a visit and it will give you access to information about the
DOMICA CAVE, all other public Show Caves in Slovakia and much more. An
allied Slovak Web Site for the SLOVENSKÉ MÚZEUM OCHRANY PRíRODY
A JASKYNIARSTVA (The Slovak Museum for Nature Protection and Speleology),
also based in Liptovský Mikuláš, can be found at :-
http://www.smopaj.sk
It is
also well worth a visit.
