HANSON PLC STATEMENT ON THE ENVIRONMENT :
[Text from the hansonplc.com Website ...]

"environment

Hanson seeks to manage environmental issues and the impact of our activities to ensure that they are beneficial. We seek continual improvement in environmental performance and endeavour to make a positive contribution to society through our products and our land and marine management programmes.

The Board receives quarterly reports reviewing the impact of changes in environmental issues, legislation and performance. We are also developing our use of key performance indicators in the business. At Board level, the challenge is to ensure that those chosen are applicable across the product and geographical range of the business.

Our environmental policy provides the framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets. It is applied as the minimum standard across our business. Where our businesses identify a need for additional, more stretching requirements, they actively build upon this policy.

Hanson published a UK biodiversity and geodiversity action plan on August 30, 2005. This was devised in consultation with English Nature and the Countryside Council for Wales."
